1924 - 1946 International Business Machines. The font used was "sans-sarif"and the logo intends to suggest a globe.

1947-1956 IBM in transition. The logo was first time changed after 22 years. The type of the font used was "Beton Bold".

1956-1972 IBM continuity. The font used is "City Medium".

1972- till date - IBM international recognition. The horizontal stripes suggest "speed and dynamism". There are two versions of this logo, one contains 13 stripes and the other contains 8 stripes as shown above.(This logo was first used in 1967 and was later fully replaced the solid logo in 1972.)

  • Before IBM, the company was known as "Computing-Tabulating-Recording" - CTR. It was named as "International Business Corporation" - IBM in 1924. 
  • The Computing-Tabulating-Recording company (CTR) was formed in 1911, by merging of three companies namely - "Tabulating Machine Company", "Computing Scale Company", and "International Time Recording Company" with the help of Mr Charles F. Flint. The logo of the company is as follows

  • The International Time Recording Company (ITR 1889-1914) began as the Bundy Manufacturing Company in Auburn, New York. ITR's main product line were mechanical time recorders invented and patented by Willard L. Bundy in 1888.  The logo of the company is as follows 


  • The Computing Scale Company (1891 - 1914) was incorporated in 1891 by Edward Canby and Orange O. Ozias, two businessmen from Dayton, Ohio by purchasing the patents of  the newly invented computing scale. The logo of the company was as follows
