Analog Devices was the second company that was founded by Ray Stata and Matthew Lorber. Prior to this company, they founded Solid State Instrument which produced devices to test gyroscopes. 1957: Olivetti subsidiary Telectro launches semiconductor manufacturing division, Société Generale Semiconductor.
1968: Thomson-Brandt acquires Compagnie Generale de Telegraphie San Fils, forming Thomson-CSF high-technology group.
1986: Thomson-CSF acquires Mostek, of the United States, in order to boost its semiconductor operations.
1987: SGS Thomson is created through the merger of Italy's SGS Microelettronica and France's SGS-Thomson's semiconductor division.
1994: SGS Thomson goes public on New York and Paris stock exchanges.
1998: Thomson sells out its share and company changes name to STMicroelectronics; ST adds listing on Italian stock exchange.
